不堪連年虧損 56年香港《新報》今停刊

見證香港56年歷史的《新報》，在7月11日宣布於7月12日停刊。聲明中指出，因為免費報章出現、讀者讀報習慣改變，經多方改革後仍處於連年虧損狀態，因此決定停刊，所有受影響的員工將獲得合理賠償及妥善安排。

根據《維基百科》內容，《新報》於1959年10月5日由羅斌創辦，停刊前由英皇集團老闆楊受成擁有，並為英皇集團旗下印刷媒介業務，賭王何鴻燊亦是股東之一。以下為聲明原文。

有關《新報》於 2015 年 7 月 12 日起停刊事宜

基於連年虧損，本報將於 2015 年 7 月 12 日起停刊，正式結束業務。

隨著免費報章的出現，傳統報章近年銷量大幅下降，加上讀者讀報的習慣有所改變，本報在可行的方法及預算下已作出多番適切改革，唯仍然處於長期虧蝕狀態。經過詳細考慮，本報決定於 2015 年 7 月 12 日起停刊，所有受影響員工將獲合理賠償及妥善安排。

本報自 1959 年創辦，見證香港 56 年以來的轉變，記錄本地政經民生的發展，與香港人一起成長。在此，本報再次十分感謝所有讀者、客戶及員工多年來的支持及愛戴。

RE: Hong Kong Daily News to cease publication from July 12, 2015

The publication of Hong Kong Daily News will be ceased from July 12, 2015 due to financial deficits over the past years.

Circulations of traditional newspapers have been plummeting ever since the advent of free newspapers. Coupled with the changingreading habits of newspaper readers, the situation has led Hong Kong Daily News into a long standing deficit despite repeatedattempts to reform. After carful considerations, it has been decided that the publication of the newspaper will come into a haltfrom July 12, 2015. All staff will be compensated fairly with proper arrangements.

Hong Kong Daily News has witnessed the transformation of Hong Kong in the past 56 years since it was first published in 1959,
setting down the economic and social development of the territories. The newspaper also takes this opportunity to thank allreaders, customers and staff for their long time support.
